Stallions

October 24th, 2010

This is my first venture into individual formal posed sitting portraits. I instantly thought, this could be… not so artsy. But then I thought, if they are asking me to do it. They are getting me. So, this is what you get.

They all have your typical portrait, but I wasn’t about to show those here.  Actually, maybe just a few.

You can see the rest of the images and order prints here.

Note to team parents: Get your orders in by Wednesday at 8am and it’ll be sweeter for you. (The password is the coach’s first name, lower case.)

Heart of the Farm Festival

October 18th, 2010

Saturday, November 13th 2010 from 1-5 pm at Avogadro’s Number at 605 N. Mason st.,  Fort Collins, CO.

There will be live music by Bill De Marco, Kathryn Mostow, Michael Kirkpatrick, Handpicked Band and Liz Barnez.

Tapas by Tasty Harmony, free beer from O’dell’s, Silent auction for Feat. Homemade Pies, face painting, bean bag toss, special guest; Koa the “Fast Food Free Kid”, free apple cider from Ela Farms, children’s activities and here is the best part (well, besides the free beer from O’dells), is I’m going to be running a photo booth! I may even bring wacky props.

Everyone is welcome. You can buy your tickets, here. So, make sure you come out. All the proceeds go to the Feeding the Families Program which is super fantastic. In case you don’t know, the Happy Heart Farm is trying to raise money to feed 40 low income families and provide them with local, organic produce for an entire season. It doesn’t get much better than that. And 50% of my print sales will be going towards the Feeding the Families program, so you’ll get a great photograph and you’ll be doing something good for your community, for real people-families- in need, in the process.

Dennis, Bailey and the interns of Happy Heart Farm

September 22nd, 2010

When Bailey asked me to come out and take some photos of her, her hubby and the interns, I was so thrilled. Everyone there is so nice and so much fun, they did not disappoint in front of the camera. They were just as fun to photograph as they are to talk to.Delicious Food. They often have food tasting on distribution day. That makes going to pick up your veggies even more fun. The picture on the left is some curried eggplant. Yum!

The super friendly staff.

These are the interns. Feel free to click on this to see it big.

Dennis, Bailey and the interns.

This can’t be a bad place to work, if this is the portrait you take with your boss.

And of course, the Heart of Happy Heart Farm.

For more information on Happy Heart Farm, check out their website. They do good things, including feeding the cash strapped families of Fort Collins and produce some of the yummiest organic veg this side of the Rocky Mountains.

will work for food, part ii

August 4th, 2010

Distribution day at the Happy Heart Farm, CSA. It’s one of my favorite days of the week and the farm has kept us from buying produce for a couple months now. It is fabulous! Especially when I figure out what to do what this odd little veg called kohlrabi. Any ideas?

It is also great to show up and see the sense of community that exists here. Everyone seems to be friends and next thing you hear is, “what’s your name?”. I am so glad to be a part of this. I am probably the most asocial member….

You can see the rest of the pictures here.

will work for food

June 2nd, 2010

This is some work for Happy Hearts Farm, a local CSA. Yesterday was the first distribution. We got radishes, lettuce, garlic leaves, chives, onions and a couple watermelon slices. It was great to walk onto the farm yesterday and actually see where our food is grown. My girls were thrilled. I can’t wait to eat all my food.
